TVXQ’s trio JYJ have earned 2.8 billion Won (approximately 2.4 million USD) in one day.

The TVXQ trio, consisting of YoungWoong Jaejoong, Xiah Junsu and Micky Yoochun, released their first album <The…> on the 8th in Japan and earned almost 3 billion Won. According to Oricon Style, they sold 71,733 copies of their album, which costs 2,800 Yen each (39,000 Won), on the first day. This means that they made a total of 2.8 billion Won in just one day.

Of course, they were also the singers ranked #1 on the Oricon Daily Album charts. Compared to Himuro Kyosuke, who ranked second with 20,000 copies sold, the trio is receiving an explosive response. Many say that with such a large gap between the top two ranks, the trio will be able to sell at least 200,000 copies of their album. Therefore, many also state that the trio will probably rank #1 on the weekly charts as well.

This album is the first to be released by the trio without SM Entertainment. Their surprising album sales only proved once more that TVXQ’s popularity is still soaring in Japan regardless of the difficulties they’ve faced for the past year. The album includes new songs that were performed at the Osaka Kyocera Dome and Tokyo Dome in June such as <Get Ready> and <Long Away>. The album can be seen as a way for the members to thank their fans who have been waiting so long for a new release.

The TVXQ trio stated, “We thank all our fans for the positive response we’ve been getting for our album. Although we are disheartened that we have not had many chances to interact with our fans in Korea, we hope this album will become a stepping stone in creating more chances to communicate with our fans, which is something we would like very much.”

The trio have taken a flashy first step as a separate unit and are planning a worldwide October release of their collaboration album with Kanye West.
